The club provided some demos, one member building track, another brass kits and a third making a station building. A display of member's models was also provided as well as a display extolling the virtues of railway modelling for your health.

Mothecombe High Wycombe & District Model Railway Society, Junior Section. Mothecombe is a quiet through station on a rural line somewhere in south Devon, close to the coast and Plymouth, and is operated in either GWR/SR or BR periods. At either end, two fiddle yards feed trains through the layout. A bay platform is provided for the local push-pull service and a small yard serves the local community. Occasional diversions from the main line add interest during the day. Further details from francisgomme@aol.com

Marlow Station by Graeme Vickery. This display features buildings, locomotives and rolling stock built for a model of Marlow Station as it appeared in 1947. The branch ran from Bourne End where trains from Maidenhead would reverse to head up the branch. The local branch auto working was known as the “Marlow Donkey” and unusually auto-fitted mixed trains operated daily. 1947 saw the installation of a rail link to the sawmill at Marlow station adding to operational interest and the regular excursion traffic from all corners of the then rail network provide for LMS, SR and LNER traffic as well as GWR. I am particularly interested in talking to anyone who recalls the line before the extensive rationalisation of the late 1960s.

Moos by Mike Roualle, featured in Continental Modeller November 2020. This is the first show outing for Moos. Location is Weinviertel in Lower Austria – through junction station, located on a subsidiary line running from Zwettl to Horn, the standard gauge branch heading to Huf. The narrow gauge heading South to Krumau am Kamp. Whilst the main running line is electrified both the narrow gauge and the branch are not relying on diesel and some steam traction. The narrow gauge merges in the station area using Tillig dual gauge trackwork. The era modelled is from the late 1970’s onwards- This allows a flexibility in the range of rolling stock, so that some interesting items may appear from time to time.

Tamcester N Gauge by Ben Sarich. Tamcester is a large town somewhere between London and Birmingham, served on a loop off the West Coast Main Line. Set in the sectorisation years of British Rail anywhere between the mid 1980s and the early 1990s. Follow “chilt_n_railways” on Instagram for more

Catesby Sidings Catesby Sidings represents a fictional “What if” station on the now closed Great Central London Extension, located just to the North of Charwelton. Rich seams of iron ore were discovered in the area leading to the construction of a network of mineral lines leading to exchange sidings at this location, a few years after the main line itself opened. The quiet rural station of Catesby was at that point renamed “Catesby Sidings”, no doubt under the influence of the quarry owner. Fast forward to about 1962 and we find both the station and quarry still open and the exchange sidings still in use, with a busy procession of trains both passing and stopping. The quarry branch is very active with wagons regularly tripped from the sidings for loading and return.

Nottingborough by Stephen Povey 00 Gauge loco shed layout. The layout depicts a fictitious shed in the East Midlands. Modelled in the mid 60’s to show the running down of steam and the emergence of diesel traction. The layout was the main feature in Model Rail's 300 edition last year.

Wilne Lane Yard by Alan Thompson, 0 Gauge. An O Gauge “cameo” style, steam outline, shunting layout built to minimal dimensions. Period is loosely BR 1950/1950s era. Headshunts are deliberately short to make shunting a challenge. It is operated at home using printed wagon cards to make up the train and a dice to determine which siding the wagon is shunted to. All buildings are scratchbuilt and rolling stock and locos are kit built. Dimensions: 54in x 21in (scenic area) plus 34in x 21in fiddle yard area.

Inchyra Mill by Tony Bucknell. 00 Finescale. Inchyra paper mill is located in Fife in east Scotland, served from a branch line which leads from the Edinburgh to Dundee mainline. Buildings are mostly scratchbuilt and based on the Auchmuty & Rothes Paper Mills in Glenrothes, Fife. It is based on the 1958-62 transition period. Track is hand built using exactoscale and C&L components. The layout is wired for conventional, analogue control. Point control uses Tortoise motors. The layout is also fitted with the Faller car system, allowing road vehicles to pass through the factory. Locos and wagons are mainly RTR but detailed and weathered with some built from kits. These represent the types of freight seen serving the Fife area papermills including timber logs, Esparto Grass and Paper Pulp plus coal, chemicals and finished product.

Mellin Parva is a small narrow gauge line modelled in O16.5. The layout was originally built by David Simmonite but is now operated by R&DMRC. A railway station, a boating wharf and a sunny day in the 1950s. What else could be needed to complete this idyllic scene? - Nothing!
